AXIS T8129 PoE Extender - Repeater - 10Base-T, 100Base-TX - RJ-45 / RJ-45 - external - up to 330 ft Ethernet has a limited cable length between the switch and the camera of 100m (328 ft.). When needed to cover a longer distance, a switch is normally used as a repeater, or optical fiber may be used. To overcome this distance limit, network installers can simply connect an AXIS T8129 PoE Extender in-line with the Cat-5e or Cat-6 cable, and forward the rest to the camera. Dependent on midspan and camera type, the connection in total can be between 200-400 meters (656-1312 ft.).
- Ethernet and PoE (power over Ethernet) connections restrict cable distances to 328' (100 m) between network ports. To overcome this distance limit, network installers can simply connect a T8129 Power over Ethernet Extender from Axis Communications in-line with the Cat-5e or Cat-6 cable.
- The PoE Extender is compatible with all Axis network video products that support PoE technology, however, transmission range depends on the power required. Therefore, a 25 W PTZ dome camera may be located 656' (200 m) away using a single extender.
- With this PoE Extender, Axis network video products can be installed at distances greater than 328' (100 m) from one another.
- The PoE extender does not require any additional power supply and the connected network camera is fed by a single PoE switch or midspan, which simplifies installation.
- It offers 2 Ethernet ports, which are both configured automatically for link speed, duplex, and crossover, and the full-rate network throughput is maintained.
